If you have sensitive skin, then you know that what you put in your body is just as important as the products you use on it. Despite my ongoing battle with acne, for years I continued to use products that were made with harsh chemicals. In March 2019, I began seeing an esthetician (click here to see what she taught me about skincare routines) who suggested I switch all my everyday products to natural based ones to see if it helped clear up my skin. Willing to try anything and everything to stop the breakouts on both my face and back, I switched to these five every day products that are great, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Our laundry detergent comes in contact with items that touch our skin every day. Think about it. Our clothes, sheets, and towels are all washed with laundry detergent. It hadn’t occurred to me that maybe the detergent I had been using could be a cause of my breakouts. Seventh Generation (specifically the lavender scented product) smells good, keeps my laundry extremely soft, and reduces the amount of harsh chemicals coming into contact with my skin. This laundry detergent is made with plant-derived cleaning and softener agents such as Laureth-6, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and Sodium Citrate.
I stumbled across this body wash when looking for a new, natural deodorant…and I LOVE IT! Native only uses natural ingredients in their products and encourages people to empower themselves through the hygiene products they use. I have loved every body wash scent I’ve tried. Not only do they smell great, there is also no residue left on my skin from harsh chemicals. This body wash is made with coconut derived cleaners and citric acid (this provides pH balance).
I have struggled with overactive armpits for as long as I can remember. No matter the deodorant, I would still sweat through my clothes and thought everyone could smell how bad my pits were. Switching to Native deodorant was a game changer. Thanks to this aluminum-free deodorant, my sweating is more under control and I’m no longer self-conscious of how I smell. I also love that Native makes a line of deodorants specifically for people with sensitive skin!
When trying to figure out why my back acne had gotten so out of control, my esthetician thought that maybe my shampoo and conditioner were contributing factors. Think about it. When you wash your hair, that product runs down your back as you wash it out. That’s when I found Olaplex. These products not only make my hair feel shiny, strong, and refreshed, but they also are made without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. It’s a win win!
Winter months can wreak havoc on anyone’s skin. However, living in a desert environment takes it up a notch all year long. While lotion is great for healing dry skin, it also can stay on your skin long after it’s applied. Enter Everyone Lotion. This product is made without harmful ingredients, which helps the skin absorb it immediately. They also make products specifically for people with scent sensitivities.
While I still struggle with acne, I have noticed a difference in the way my skin has reacted to using natural based products. Each of these products have become staples in my house and I will not turn back! Which natural products can you not live without? Comment below!
